Paul Pogba, Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola

Paul Pogba would be far better off playing under Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola rather than Jose Mourinho at United, according to Arsenal legend Ian Wright.

Pogba was left on the bench by Jose Mourinho for United’s Champions League match against Sevilla after the midfielder previously claimed he was too sick to start last weekend’s FA Cup clash at Huddersfield.

Wright however believes that Pogba would be performing far better if he was playing under Guardiola rather than Mourinho.

“Could you imagine Pogba at City playing in that front line on the right there where Gundogan is playing or anywhere in and around there,” Wright said on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“Pep loves players. If Pogba is playing in that team I would put anything on it that he would not be in the same frame of mind that he is right now.”

Wright added that United’s frustrated supporters should not be too harsh on Pogba and his poor performances.

“I bet he is confused and doesn't know what is going on,” Wright added.

“I can totally understand why Manchester United fans are saying that he is not playing well but we are talking about a top, top drawer player who needs managing.”
