Spanish paper El Confidencial have made a big statement on Thursday. According to the Iberian daily, Manchester United have officially tabled a bid to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid.

Bale set off alarm bells in the immediate aftermath of the Champions League final. The Welsh forward came off the bench against Liverpool before scoring a match-winning double for Los Blancos.

After the Liverpool match Bale confirmed that he’s been frustrated with his limited game time at Real Madrid.

Now El Confidencial have confirmed that Man United have made their initial bid to sign the former Tottenham star from the Santiago Bernabeu.

El Confidencial claim that Bale would become the Premier League’s highest earner if he moves to Old Trafford.

Man United are willing to pay Bale 35 million euros a year in wages.

The report also states that Jose Mourinho has been targeting Bale for some time. Apparently Mourinho made his intentions clear last summer that Bale was a priority for Man United when the Red Devils played Real Madrid in a friendly.

But how much will Bale cost?

El Confidencial note that the starting price for Bale was thought to be 120 million euros. But after the Champions League final, Florentino Perez upped that fee to no less than 150 million euros.
