Gareth Bale is a Manchester United player, according to Wales boss Ryan Giggs who thinks the Real Madrid star would be adored at Old Trafford.
Bale is on Manchester United’s wishlist for the summer, with the Real Madrid star possibly set to leave the club this summer.
The Wales international struck twice as Los Blancos beat Liverpool 3-1 to win the Champions League last month.
But Gareth Bale struggled for game time at Real last term and is thought to want certain assurances from new manager Julen Lopetegui.
Manchester United are waiting to welcome him to Old Trafford with open arms.
And Giggs says that Bale is a player with the ability to be a huge United hit - should he be persuaded.
“I’d be a happy United fan, that’s for sure,” he said.
“I think he’s a Manchester United player. I think the fans would love him.
“The fans would adore him but again, like I say, he’s at a club where he’s won three Champions Leagues so why would you leave?”
Bale’s old Tottenham boss, Harry Redknapp, can see the Real star turning his back on the Bernabeu this summer.
And that would be a huge boost for United, who are understood to be spearheading the race for his signature.
“I think he will come home. He is a home-boy. I remember giving him four, five days off when I was at Tottenham, we never had a game for two weeks, and he only went back to Wales to see his mum,” Redknapp said.
“He didn’t go off abroad anywhere exotic. He is quite a steady Eddie. I think he would like to be at home. He is a home-boy really.
“He is an amazing player. He can play so many positions and in so many systems. I know he started out as a left-back. He can play left wing back, he can play in the three.
“There are so many strings to his bow and he is such a fantastic talent.
“If he comes back obviously it will only be a top-six club he would go to.”
