If the bookmakers are to be believed, this season’s Premier League title race will be contested between Manchester City and Liverpool.
Pep Guardiola’s side are heavy favourites having racked up an incredible 100 points during the 2017/18 campaign, winning the league by 19 points.
As for Liverpool, they may have only finished fourth last season but a run to the Champions League final, coupled with a tremendous transfer window, has seen them become City’s biggest challengers as far as the odds are concerned.
It’s seen Manchester United - who finished second last season - drop down to third favourites with fans fearing a title race between their two biggest rivals.
But who would they rather win the Premier League?
City for a second consecutive season or Liverpool for a first ever time?
Well, that disastrous scenario was put to Gary Neville on Wednesday night.
His response? Well, he didn’t actually reveal who he’d rather win the league but instead mocked Liverpool fans for thinking they’ve already won it.
As for United’s chances, he joked they’d be happy just to avoid relegation.
“Oh Liverpool have won it haven’t they? 40pts will do us,” Neville tweeted.
Unlike Manchester City and United, who have been relatively quiet in this summer's transfer window by their usual big-spending standards, Liverpool have opened the chequebook.
Jurgen Klopp's men have splashed out on Naby Keita, Fabinho, Alisson and Xherdan Shaqiri, and are considered serious contenders for a first Premier League title this season.
Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho has already heaped pressure on Liverpool, saying they have to win the title to justify their summer splurge.
"I think if you have the money, if you invest well, it is better than to have it in the bank. Because the interest rates are very low," said the Portuguese.
"The problem is you have to invest well and honestly I think they did very well, because every player they bought are quality players. I'm happy for them.
"And I'm also happy to smile [about Klopp's previous comments] and to see that, you know, you can change your opinion and change as a person, it's funny.
"That's okay, but maybe this season finally you demand that they win. I think you have to be fair and now you have to demand [they win the league].
"You have to say the team, with the investments not just this season, last season, that you made in January, that you make now, because that will probably be the record for the Premier League this season, I can't see anyone else getting close to spending what they have.
"A team that was a finalist in the Champions League, you have to say you are a big candidate, you have to win."
And there’s certainly a hint of fear as far as United fans are concerned.
Liverpool beat United 4-1 in the International Champions Cup in the United States - a result which summed up how each side’s pre-season has gone so far.
While Liverpool have added four promising players to their squad, United have only brought in back-up goalkeeper Lee Grant, 19-year-old Diogo Dalot and Fred.
Mourinho is expected to add at least one new players before the transfer window slams shut next week but many fans and experts believe Liverpool will go into the new season with a stronger squad than the Red Devils.
Neville - and every other United fan - will just be hoping the bookmakers are wrong and they don’t ever have to choose between whether they want City or Liverpool to win the league.
