Manchester City have tabled an offer to sign Barcelona teenager Ilaix Moriba, according to Sport.
The Spanish news outlet claims that Moriba, 15, could leave Barca on a free transfer next summer when his contract expires and as it stands, he is yet to be offered fresh terms by the La Liga giants.
It is understood that Man City have presented a “very attractive” proposal to the midfielder’s entourage as they aim to lure him away from the Nou Camp.
Good mov Good move for Man City?
It will be a long time before we know whether or not Moriba is good enough to break into Manchester City’s first team but one thing is for sure, Pep Guardiola will know best.
The former Barca boss will have as good a knowledge about the best young players in Spain as he will in England and given the chance that Moriba is reportedly going to be available for free, this is an opportunity that City have to take.
This report suggests that Moriba is a bit miffed as to why he has not been offered a new deal and it is said that he wants a decision made by January 1.
Likely to happen?
Sport reports that Borussia Dortmund are at the same level as Man City in the hunt to sign Moriba as they too have tabled an “attractive” proposal for the midfielder.
Guardiola will have a big influence on Moriba’s decision if he had a straight choice between the two clubs, but Dortmund give their younger players much more of a chance in first team football – take Jadon Sancho for an example.
The Citizens could still pull off a deal though, yet Barca could quickly wrap up a new deal for the youngster and put this speculation to bed.
