Former American striker Eddie Johnson has
appeared to announce Christian Pulisic's move from Borussia Dortmund to
Chelsea on social media in a huge error.
Sportsmail have previously reported that Chelsea are chasing his signature, and a story in German outlet Bild on Saturday morning also claimed the Blues had agreed to take the player next summer.
And
now the move appears to have moved a step closer to completion after
Johnson, who played for Fulham, Cardiff and Preston during his lengthy
career, revealed the move on Instagram.
Alongside a picture of Pulisic in both a Dortmund and Chelsea, Johnson wrote: 'So stoked for you lil' bro, great move.
'Can't wait to watch you alongside Eden Hazard.'
According to the Sun,
Liverpool had made an opening bid of £45m for the USA international,
who has had a hand in seven goals across 18 appearances in all
competitions for Dortmund this season.
Pulisic, who is also being tracked by Bayern Munich, has been capped 23 times by the United States.
He
is out of contract in 2020 and Dortmund have now accepted they must
cash in on him at the end of this season – having previously attempted
to open contract negotiations.
Pulisic would be an addition to the squad, not a replacement for any individual.
His recruitment would not make it any more likely that Hazard will leave for Real Madrid.
‘England,
the Premier League, is where lots of kids dream of playing so there is
no reason why one day I won’t play here,’ Pulisic said before England’s
match with the United States in November.
‘We
are having a great year at Dortmund and I am enjoying every moment of
that. Then when the time comes for me to talk in the breaks about my
future, that’s when those things will happen.’
