Man City's world-class midfielder is nearing the end of a spell on the sidelines, but will he be ready for Gameweek 17
They’ve managed just fine without him, winning 13, drawing two and losing just one in 16 Gameweeks, but a formidable Manchester City side are on the verge of being reunited with their star player of last season: Kevin De Bruyne.
The midfielder racked up 200 Fantasy Premier League points last season and proved one of the most consistent players in the league.
De Bruyne looks set to return to the reigning champions’ side some time this month, but will he be ready in time for Man City’s Gameweek 17 fixture with Everton?
What has Guardiola said?
Speaking ahead of City’s match with Chelsea last weekend, Guardiola suggested De Bruyne was close to returning from his long spell on the sidelines.
“I think he will be back training in maybe one week,” Guardiola said.
“I said many times, I’d like to have Kevin available, but we try to not put pressure on one player and instead on everyone involved to make a good team. “He is coming back.”
It sounds like De Bruyne could be back in training before the match with Everton, but Guardiola has expressed a desire not to put pressure on him so FPL managers shouldn’t expect the midfielder to return in Gameweek 17
