Former Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal believes Liverpool are sure to win the Premier League title this season.
Despite Manchester City overcoming the Reds 2-1 in their crucial match in midweek, the Dutchman thinks Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is out-coaching his counterpart Pep Guardiola.
However, even though he thinks Liverpool
will be victorious come May, Van Gaal says that Man City actually have
the better players.
'Liverpool's team
is now based on the highest quality when it comes to their players. In
fact, the highest quality players are at City.'
Manchester
City have scored the most goals in the league so far this season.
They've found the net 56 times, compared to 49 from Liverpool.
'But,
at the same time, that is the weakness in Guardiola,' Van Gaal
continued. 'He only coaches his teams in an attacking way. Always.
Indeed, Liverpool's defensive record in
the Premier League has been by far and away the best.
They've only let
in 10 goals all season in 21 matches, while Manchester City have
conceded 17.
Part of the reason behind
that is the introduction of big money signings Virgil Van Dijk in
defence and goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
