Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has lauded praises on Ajax's sensational defender Matthijs de Ligt but ruled interest in signing him.

City though are short at the back after Vincent Kompnay departed the club but, signing the 19-year-old will cost City an unbelievable amount of money which Guardiola don't want.

Matthijs de Ligt will likely join Juventus ahead of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester Untied {who are offering more wages and mind blowing clauses than the rest of his suitors but, without Champions League football or the prospect of winning trophies next season, the De Ligt and his representatives has completely ruled them out}.

Asked if Manchester City are interested in signing the 19-year-old Dutch international, Guardiola replied;

"No. But i like him", he told Marca.

"He's a good centre back. He's 19-years-old, and the one who signs him will have a centre-back for years to come.

"We have other prioritizes we will look at, who will fit into our system and give us the result we want."
