The draw for the semi-final of the Europa League has been conducted at UEFA headquarters as the battle to win the competition and book a spot in next season's Champions League heats up.

Arsene Wenger's Arsenal edged past Russian giants CSKA Moscow in the quarter-final stage and, well off the top four pace in the Premier League, look likely to need to win the Europa League if they are to be in the Champions League next term.

To take a step towards doing so, Arsenal will have to get past Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, a team Wenger was keen for his men to avoid.

The other semi-final tie in the draw sees Red Bull Salzburg come up against French heavyweights Marseille.

All four will now do battle for a place in the final, which could see Arsenal play French opposition in what would undoubtedly be special for Wenger.
