Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah was voted the UEFA Champions League Player of the Week for the third time this season after performing excellently in the great 3-0 victory over Manchester City.  The Egyptian scooped 57 per cent of a UEFA vote to take the accolade.

Salah opened the scoring against Pep Guardiola’s team and laid on an assist for Sadio Mane to head in the third.

The Reds’ No.11 saw off competition from Cristiano Ronaldo (35 per cent), James Rodriguez (five per cent) and Gerard Pique (four per cent) to claim the award.

It’s the third time in this campaign that the Egyptian winger has claimed the prize, having also done so for his performance in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Sevilla on Match-day one before thrashing Maribor 7-0 on Match-day three in the UEFA Champions League’s group stage.

Salah topped the list with many elite players like Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, Bayern Munich’s James Rodriguez and Barcelona’s Gerard Pique. Salah collected 57 percent of UEFA’s public votes, while Ronaldo got 35 percent of the votes.

There must have been no doubt that after scoring two goals, one being a sensational overhead kick and assisting a third goal against Juventus, Cristiano Ronaldo deserved to be the UEFA Champions League player of the week. However, that is not the case.
