Frank Lampard rates Liverpool FC’s chances against Real Madrid in Champions League final

Frank Lampard is convinced that Liverpool FC have what it takes to beat Real Madrid in the Champions League final later this month.

The Reds secured their spot in the final of Europe’s elite club competition in dramatic fashion on Wednesday night as they progressed through despite a 4-2 loss to AS Roma in the semi-final second leg.

Liverpool FC wrapped up a 7-6 win on aggregate to set up a clash against the holders Real Madrid in Kiev on Saturday 26 May.

Lampard won the Champions League trophy with Chelsea FC in 2012, and although the former midfielder accepts that the Spanish side will be the favourites after having won the competition for the last two seasons, the ex-England star is certain that the Reds have a big chance of lifting the trophy for a sixth time.

Speaking to BT Sport on Wednesday night, Lampard said: “Real Madrid will be the favourites because of what they’ve done in the last few years.

"But finals are all about winning.

“Liverpool will be going there with the intent of winning the game.

“With the manager they’ve got and the belief they’ve showed in this run, if they can perform and get every part of the game right, they can change their lives [by winning it].”

Liverpool FC will now switch their focus back to Premier League affairs and their crunch trip to Chelsea FC in the top flight on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they look to try and secure their spot in the top four and Champions League qualification for next season.
