Liverpool spent a whopping £43.8million on agents' fees during 2018 - almost £17m more than the second-highest in the Premier League, Chelsea.
Data released by the Football Association revealed the current 20 top-flight clubs spent a total of £260.6m on intemediary fees in the year up to February 2019.
Chelsea spent £26.85m on agents' fees, second most in the Premier League, ahead of Manchester City on £24.1m and Manchester United on £20.8m.
Liverpool's spending saw them to complete deals for the likes of Alisson, Naby Keita and Fabinho, allowing them to sustain a title challenge this season.
Chelsea brought in keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and Christian Pulisic having appointed Maurizio Sarri as their new manager last summer.
Arsenal paid out £11.1m to agents in the year from February 1, 2018 to January 31, 2019, but that was less than the £19.1m paid by Everton and the £14.4m by West Ham.
Interestingly, Tottenham spent over £11m on fees despite not signing any players last summer.
Bournemouth almost matched Arsenal's total, having shelled out £10.3m to agents to help with their transfer business.
The lowest spenders in the Premier League werer Burnley with just shy of £4m, but the trickle-down effect of transfer business into the Championship was evident.
Stoke City, relegated from the top-flight at the end of last season, spent £7.2m on agents fees, with fellow demoted clubs Swansea (£5.5m) and West Bromwich Albion (£5.1m) not too far behind.
The gulf was also in evidence in League One, where relegated Sunderland's £2.9m in agents' fees dwarfed the rest of the division's outlay.
